About This:
13 HANDS new digital EP, You Are What You Leave Behind is the first new release since his 2006 Grammy nominated CD, “The Johnny Introspective”. The title of the EP is also the name of his new initiative that stresses the concept of how important we all are to the evolution of our world, one another, our planet, the improving of social, education and health systems while embracing the idea that we all have a specific purpose, or legacy, to leave behind during our lifetime. The campaign has the support of over 25 sponsors in holistic health, yoga, organic foods, hemp clothing, solar and sustainable environmental initiatives, fair trade products and other conscious companies doing their part in the “grand design” of this evolution forward.
The first song on the EP and centerpiece of the campaign is THE MESSENGER (part 1). It’s a lyrically powerful tune that feels like a modern day Alice’s Restaurant but with a David Grey like sound and Ani DiFranco like lyrical intensity. This song is available as a free download independent of the 5 song EP...and you’ll be excited to hear the other parts!!!
Next up is the BIG LIE, which was Grammy nominated in the Best Pop Male Vocal category. It’s a cool tune that has a retro, Velvet Underground feel but with 13 HANDs’ own signature musical and lyrical style.
WAITING FOR THE DAY is a beautiful U2 like tune that speaks of optimism and patience in the coming of a new world understanding.
Then we have GANESHA, (Walk of the Elephant Boy) a powerful Kirtan chant piece that builds into this huge tribal drum and vocal intensity with a world production style that hints of Peter Gabriel at times. Play this thing and all your obstacles will be removed....no Kirtan experience necessary to appreciate this inspirational world music recording.
And finally he leaves us with a beautiful 15 minute, relaxation guitar piece called, FLOTATION DEVICE, designed to relieve stress, to teach yoga over or just chill out with....BUT DO NOT DRIVE TO THIS! This piece has gotten people off of sleeping meds, decreased anxiety and has done wonders for just general health.
