About This:
Hi, my name is Jordan E. Spivack and my hometown is Nanuet, NY. My music is often considered Cool Jazz or New Age.
Some of my influences are...
Pat Metheny, Burt Bacharach, Laura Nyro, Aaron Copland, Joni Mitchell, and Sergei Prokofiev.
The type of music I create is...
I write music of all kinds: Instrumentals, which I describe as my Musical Mood Paintings, created through the use of keyboard, synthesizer and multi-tracking; children's songs and musical theater - I write both music and lyrics; classical music - everything from solo piano to full orchestra; and pop songs. The music comes from my heart, and I have been composing music of some sort since the age of five.
To me, the power of music is...
Being able to create music is a great source of joy for me,and it also reflects my many moods. Surely there are times when my music alone gets me through hard times in my life. The ability to hear music is a singular sensation, unequal to any other. Music vibrates through the entire body, and can make a person very happy or very sad. It can move you, connect you with your own spirituality. And harmony can bring people together to create beauty.
My mission as a musician is...
As a composer I try to make my music as beautiful as possible, to give it meaning, to write it well, and to make an impression. As a music director at a pre-school I try to introduce the concepts of music to very young minds - what is loud and soft, what is fast and slow, what is an introduction, how to sing in unison, how to count, what is the difference between singing and screaming, when is it fun and when is it serious. And I always attempt to perform as a professional musician, to set the very best example.
