About This:
AGES 3 to 6
**********************************************************
Relaxation/healing stories developed with hospital pediatricians and child psychologists to help young children (ages 3 to 6) cope with medical procedures, psychological problems, surgery, and everyday stress; and to help activate the body’s natural healing process.
The Mermaid and The Swan are relaxation/healing narratives that feature the ‘story-telling’ mind-body technique that has proven effective for this age group. In these stories, children are led on peaceful adventures with a brave and comforting friend. Woven into these delightful stories are carefully researched age-appropriate mind-body techniques including guided imagery, relaxation, and healing exercises. Each story uses a slightly different narrative technique to appeal to children in different stages of development.
These stories are beautifully orchestrated with waves, flutes, and wind chimes, and were designed to help young children (ages 3 to 6) relax, heal, and fall asleep. These relaxation/healing stories were developed with hospital pediatricians and child psychologists to help children cope with medical procedures, hospital stays, and everyday stress, and to help activate the body’s natural healing process.
If your child is prone to anxiety, we recommend that you listen to this CD with your child the first time he or she listens to them, or preview the stories on this CD before playing them for your child. Although these narratives are carefully pre-screened, it is possible that your child will be more comfortable with the imagery in one of the stories. For example, if your child is afraid of ducks, geese, or swans, you may want to focus on The Mermaid instead of The Swan.
We also recommend that your child listen to these stories with a favorite doll, stuffed toy, or action figure.
The compositions in both pieces were recorded at the tempo that has been proven to be the most effective at evoking the relaxation response through a scientific phenomenon known as rhythm entrainment.
