About This:
Amichai Margolis' debut album "Orah V'simchah" combines traditional Jewish liturgy with powerful rock and refined jazz influences. The diversity of musical styles, ranging from ballad to disco - and even to ska - makes for an array of creative and approachable original pieces. Margolis' resonant bass voice is equally at ease in a fast rock song like "Yismechu Hashamayim" and the gentle ballad "Eshet Chayil"; his voice shines in the live solo recording "Lecha Hashem" as much as amidst the lush harmonies of "Shir Lama'alot."
Across the album, Margolis seamlessly integrates his vocal and instrumental talent with innovative writing and deep knowledge of and respect for Jewish liturgical tradition. For some listeners, this album will provide a fresh, new spin on familiar prayers; for others, it will open a door to the world of Jewish cultural and religious heritage. But in either case, it most certainly will not disappoint.
