About This:
The Good Ol Country album was written and recorded by Dick Barnes, former North Carolina State Senator and former member of the North Carolina State House of Representatives. Dicks extraordinary gift for writing and recording songs is evidenced by the works on this CD.
Good Ol Country.... was written for those of us who have a true appreciation for living in the country.
North Carolina...The Place To Be.... is a fast paced bluegrass love song written to the beautiful state of North Carolina and the people who live there. The music is played with mostly traditional instruments and the beat is good for clogging.
Just A Lonely Child.... was written for all wives whose husbands work away from home. The song expresses a humble need for her love and companionship.
Buggerman.... was written about a moonshiner who dressed up like the devil to keep everyone out of the holler where he made white lightning. The song tells what happened when Dick and his brothers went into the moonshiners holler.
Starting All Over Again.... is written for anyone who has had a troubled past and turned their life around for the better.
Fox Hound Boozer.... is about the life of a man Dick met on a plane going to Nashville, TN. He said he was born in the back room of a bar in Nashville. He couldn’t remember his first drink of booze or the first woman he made love to. Happiness to him was chasing foxes(woman) and drinking. He called himself a Fox Hound Boozer.
Love My Blues Away.... is about a bar room boozer whose gal left him. He finds another woman to take her place and love his blues away.
Make My Good Girl Bad.... is written upbeat about a young country man who wants his good girl to be a little bad. This scenario is played out in many a dance hall throughout the country every Saturday night.
Young Man.... Some years ago Dick met a man who had worked in the coal mines nearly all his life. He had black lung disease and was on his death bed. Dick promised to write and record a song warning young men of the dangers associated with working in coal mines. Most of the lyrics for this song came from the dying mans lips.
Booze It & Lose It.... is a humorous fast paced country song with a strong bluegrass crossover sound and beat. It encourages those who booze to think twice and act responsibly before driving impaired on our highways.
