This DVD project has been so long in the making, that it was started before DVD technology became mainstream. It began in 1995, as an idea for a road film that we were hoping to put out on VHS. I was still just starting out as a professional musician, and I jumped in my old Honda Civic with Matt Linde, a filmmaker from Boston, with a couple cameras. We drove coast to coast, playing anywhere that would have us, crashing on couches and futons of friends along the way. The results of that journey are enclosed in the DVD's road movie.
The DVD also includes footage from my annual concert at the Somerville Theater in 2001 with special guest Susan Werner, as well as a round table discussion at my home in the Boston area on songwriting with fellow touring musicians Vance Gilbert and Christopher Williams. Lastly, the DVD includes a brief lesson into the mysterious open tuning secrets of a few of my songs...I hope you enjoy the trip!
Thanks for listening!
Ellis
