Recorded at Cosmic Dragon Art and Music in Chicago 13 Flowers is a collaboration with guiarist and composer Beau Glazar. The band, combining the hard rock/metal background of Beau with the melodic and harmonic qualities of Gayle... thus this rock band emerged. Most of the songs were freestyled as they were written... and the tricks of the studio enable the layers of Ritt's voice blending into multi-part harmonies over wicked guitar riffs and tricky rhythms. Chicago Magazine states, "Raw Beauty," and the Illinois Entertainer says "13 Flowers ' sampler promised big things back in November and the band delivers in spades on its full-length, Paperheart VooDoo . The group's style ranges from hand-clappin' bluegrass numbers like "The Hand Fasting" to foot-stompin' funk-metal tracks like "Stress." On "The Face," the group's gliding acoustic vibe erupts into a wall of crashing cymbals and distorted guitars while vocalist Gayle Ritt transcends between both with ease.
