About This:
Simon Leahy's Daughter is the debut release from Joe Fredette, me, a singer/songwriter/guitarist from the Boston area (www.myspace.com/joefredette). Motivated by an evolutionary faith, the 10 original songs on the CD loosely tell the mythical tale of a young girl who pursues and eventually realizes her dream of one day becoming an astronaut and seeing the Earth from space. In doing so, she must first find the strength and courage to break free from her over-bearing, dogmatic, close minded, and hypocritical father. With friends to strengthen and embolden her, she embarks on a hero's journey, discovering her own hidden potential, setting an example for others to follow, and carrying the torch passed down by artists and philosophers throughout the ages – crying out for the world to finally hear…, we truly are of "One World, One Love, One Vine". The recording would not have been possible, but for the incredible patience and generosity of my good friend, talented musician, and masterful recording engineer Dave Roberts (aka: Magic Dave). And in a truly spiritual collaboration, the CD package including all of the graphic design and artwork was done by my very talented wife - Suzanne Fredette. Her painting on the cover and illustrations inside are beautiful visual accompaniments to the songs and the ideas being conveyed, and I am so grateful for having created something together that we can be proud of the rest of our lives.
