About This:
Kara's first album begins with "Comic Books and Flashlights," a piece which won her the Vermont All-States Composition Scholarship of 2001. By describing the fate of a little boy's very colorful imagination, this heart-rending ballad reminds listeners not to allow their own creative juices to lay fallow.
The album continues in a similarly reflective spirit, communicating universal sentiments such as unrequitted love, appreciation, anger, and sorrow. Despite the universality of these emotions, Kara weaves words and music together in a unique manner that delivers stories and messages entirely devoid of cliche.
Despite limited resources (only piano and voice, for the most part), Kara's first album captures the dynamic nature of the human experience.
