Kara's first album begins with "Comic Books and Flashlights," a piece which won her the Vermont All-States Composition Scholarship of 2001. By describing the fate of a little boy's very colorful imagination, this heart-rending ballad reminds listeners not to allow their own creative juices to lay fallow. The album continues in a similarly reflective spirit, communicating universal sentiments such as unrequitted love, appreciation, anger, and sorrow.
