About This:
Songwriters have been dubbed the astronauts of human experience - called to dive daringly into what
they see and feel, and live to tell about it. Katy Bowser is taking up the challenge wholeheartedly. Katy has been playing the southeast, midwest and east coast for four years, piquing the curiosity and attention of audiences, coaxing them to look at things from a different vantage.
The October 2001 release of Katy's sophomore project, Longing, promises to justify the two years since Laryngitis and satisfy listeners who have waited patiently. This album is the fruit of a rich season of living, learning and crafting. Longing is produced by Russ Long(Sixpence None The
Richer, Over The Rhine) and marked by the work of seasoned players such as Chris Donahue (Over The Rhine, Vigilantes of Love, Fleming & John), Ken Lewis (David Wilcox, Phil Keaggy), Chris Grafagnino (Wes Cunningham) and Kenny Meeks (Jan Krist, Phil Madeira, Sixpence, Buddy Miller). Katy's latest
offering is a boldfaced and poetic look at mystery, relationship, pain, joy and waiting. This work is marked by a musical and personal maturing, and a stylistic coming into her own. With a smorgasboard of folk, rock and Celtic grooves and colors, Longing is Americana in the truest sense of the genre - song-centered music.
With this latest work under her belt, Katy is heading back out both solo and with band to coffeehouses, clubs, colleges and bars. Rumors of Longing
are stirring attention and possibilities in Nashville circles, but Katy is not waiting for her proverbial break. She's hitting the road again and putting her heart and art back out on the line for old and new crowds alike.
