About This:
With the collaboration of master musicians, Paul Schmeling at the piano, Jim Repa on sax and flute and Bradley Hatfield on synth, Lynne & Mike continue their exploration of the classics of the American Songbook, presenting unique medleys and solo performances with an added instrumental, orchestral flair. Their rendition of "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" has been described by Alan Bergman as "the best it's ever been done!" The duo bring special meaning to their performances of Dave Frishberg's "You Are There" and Cole Porter's masterpiece, "I Concentrate On You." As with many of Lynne & Mike's albums, "Sittin' On A Rainbow" is a blend of the seemingly "square" and the extraordinarily sophisticated touch of the duo, ranging from Lynne's evocative "Wind Beneath My Wings" to a joyful' knowing Sondheim medley. A bonus is Mike's original "It's All Right to be Afraid" and the duo's swinging, Schmeling-inspired "Honeysuckle Rose." As always, the arrangements are unique and the vocal/instrumental approach is joyful, a perfect blend of individual talents.
