MICHAEL COLLVER – Countertenor
Since 1972 Michael Collver has been an active performer of early music as both singer and instrumentalist. He received his musical education in Switzerland at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with specialization in early vocal techniques and cornetto. Mr. Collver was a founding member of Ensemble Project Ars Nova that concertized extensively in Europe and the U.S, and released six CD's of Medieval and late 20th century music under the New Albion and Telarc International labels.
Collver's solo performances have included work with Ensemble Sequentia, the Empire Brass Quintet, Boston Baroque and the Boston Camerata. Many of these concerts have been augmented by recordings with, Telarc International, Erato, EMI, and Harmonia Mundi. In America he has performed as an oratorio soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Roger Wagner Choral and baroque orchestras in New York, Montreal, Toronto and the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Collver is on the faculty at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, and has taught early brass & vocal techniques at summer courses in Europe and the U.S.
