A rural Illinois boy who has been playing guitar for over 30 years. Guitarist/Composer/Songwriter, who enjoys many types of styles, especially fingerpicking solos on the nylon-string classical guitar.
"In recent years I have been focusing my efforts on solo fingerpicking, creating a full sound, rich in harmony and melody. I really enjoy the Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed styles of playing. I more or less adopted this type of style and incorporated it into some of my recent writing, as is evidenced from my 'Take a Bite Out of Life' recording and my Gospel CD called 'Guitar Prayer'. The former CD is more of a rock (easy listening) with plenty of picking and licks on both electric and acoustic guitar. I still love creating on the electric guitar too. The Gospel CD will feature mostly solo fingerpicking, with a handful of overdubs."
While living in Las Vegas, Ray played in original and cover bands that did well and made radio play. Ray also is a guitar instructor and author of the GUITAR JOURNEY teaching book.
