Gene Smith is a singer/songwriter from San Rafael, CA who loves country music, horses and the sport of cutting. In 1998, Gene moved to Nashville, TN. In Nashville, they tell songwriters to write what they know, and so Gene did. In 1999, Gene recorded his first project, Cut It, which is a collection of songs for cowboys, cowgirls and anyone who loves the western lifestyle, particularly cutting. Gene and Cut It received great reviews and were featured on ESPN's, America's Horse. In June of 2000, Gene decided to move back to California. He promoted Cut It and began work on a new project. In May 2005, Gene went back to Nashville for a month and recorded, The Heart Of A Cowboy. This CD has just been released and appeals to a broader audience with songs about cowboys, the working man, love and life.
