About This:

The Heart Of A Cowboy is Gene's second release.  The songs were all written by Gene and include a mix of western swing, traditional country and modern country.  The project was recorded in Nashville, TN at County Q Productions and features fabulous musicians:  Pat McGrath (acoustic guitar), James Mitchell (electric guitar), Scott Sanders (steel), Rob Hajacos (fiddle - Garth Brook's fiddle player), Gary Smith (piano), Don Kerce (bass), Paul Scholten (drums), and Thom Flora (background vocals).

The Heart Of A Cowboy has songs about cowboys, the working man, love and life:
"Ain't Nothin' Hotter Than You" is a fun western swing tune about a beautiful lady.
"The Heart Of A Cowboy" is a pop ballad that is a tribute to bull rider Tuff Hedeman and working cowhorse legend, Greg Ward.  These two cowboys have been a great inspiration to Gene and to many people to listen to their hearts, follow their dreams and never give up.
"Good Bourbon, Good Beer, Goodbye" is a rock shuffle for the working man who finds temporary relief from a bad job in a good drink.
"If It Wasn't For That" is a ballad about how something great can come from a series of bad events.
"When I Think Of You" is a swing tune about how nothing can give you the blues when your deeply in love.
" The Rest Of My Life" is a pop ballad about finding the love of your life and deciding to settle down.
"Give All Your Love" is a ballad about learning to give what you want to receive.
" Take Me Back To Texas" is a country shuffle about a cowboy who goes to New York and misses his home in Texas.
" Where The Beer Is Cold (And The Women Are Hot) is a country rock tune for the working man who lives for the weekend and the honky tonk to get rid of his working blues.
"Shit Happens" is a western swing number about having a real bad day and deciding to just move on 'cause, that's life.

If you like George Strait, Merle Haggard, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Red Steagall etc., you'll like these songs. Take a listen!
