Return of The Big Guns was recorded by The Skatalites in Jamaica at Dynamic Studios and features music written by Don Drummond which he was not able to record. Tommy McCook understood Don's notation and over the years since the maestro'sdeath he prepared the compositions for the band to someday record. That day arrived in 1984.

The album was limited in number when originally released, and has since grown scarce.
