Released in 1997, Hear You Laughing is considered Tom Prasada-Rao’s defining recorded moment, winning “Best Indie Album”, and winning 5 WAMA awards (Washington Area Music Award) including songwriter of the year, and song of the year for “Sleeping Beauty” included here. Other live TPR standards on this disc include “Richard Nixon,” “Falling Star,” and the transcendent “Ella’s Angel.”

Some common criticisms of standard singer-songwriter folk music are that it is too depressing, too musically simplistic, too lyrically didactic, too preachy, etc. Those critics haven't met Tom Prasada-Rao yet.
