About This:
"The Latrells Still Love You" charts the band's evolution--from its bedsit beginnings to their days as a sweltering live act." The unstoppable Latrells...they're back!! releasing a "hot" new album after 5 years which includes 9 Studio tracks and 6 tracks recorded live at the Elbo Room in San Francisco. The Latrells are a San Francisco-based, psychedelic soul band flavored with pop, hip-hop, R&B and rock. Psychedelic Soul!" That's guitarist Ray "Xraydusa" Wilcox's knee-jerk response when I ask him to describe the Latrells. From the ashes of Tang! the mighty East Bay funk armada rose The Latrells with their witches brew of classic 60s soul and blissed-out acid pop. With tight, contemporary harmonies in the foreground, Carmine, Chemo, Brockington, P.J., Xandine, and the rest of the gang focus on great songs that pay homage to groups like Booker T. & The M.G.'s, The Meters, The Funk Brothers, The Zombies & The Roots. "Ray Wilcox had an inkling of vocalist Andre Jones' full potential from their days in Extinguisher, a hip-hop project. Manning the mic as Carmine Latrell, Jones is a force of nature, dodging and burning rope-a-dope rhymes with his mellifluous tenor. After releasing one full-length CD and playing a handful of triumphant shows, The Latrells went their separate ways. Maybe the band had run its course but I doubt it." -- Dan Weir, 2008 Flash Forward 2009: No doubt they're here spreading that "fresh" sound of psychedelic soul with smooth tracks like "No Jalapenos", "Turkey Jerky", butt shaking "Out the Box", LIVE versions of "Sacraphiliac" and "Bewitched"... as a music fan you can't help but hope The Latrells are back and here to stay because they Still Love You!
