Some friends who are probably better judges of my music than I am think this is some of my best stuff. It was recorded live a Symphony Hall in Boston in December of 1981. I’d gone out on a limb (and lured my friend Fenton Hollander of Water Music out there with me as promoter) and persuaded the Hall to open up for me between Christmas and New Years, a time when people supposedly wouldn’t go out for concerts. It sold out and was the start of an annual series of shows there during that time slot. I gathered some of my favorite players to help me out, and the Globe called it “A magical, precious night.” You be the judge!
