About This:
Crossing Crystal Lake is Howard Emerson's first CD as a solo performer, although he has been performing solo on and off since the early 1970's. Besides having toured and recorded with Eric Anderson and Billy Joel ("Be True to You" & "Turnstiles"), he has done session work and sat in with numerous artists. "Crossing Crystal Lake" is a solo instrumental CD that displays the wide diversity of Howard's song writing styles and playing techniques. Employing open tunings almost exclusively, hissongs range from country blues derivations to South American feels. Every song has the key, tuning, capo location and guitar model used, for those who enjoy that kind of information. All of the songs are original compositions and according to Stan Jay ofthe Mandolin Brothers, in Staten Island "You are about to hear a guitar being used the way guitars are used best; that is to play... tunes, each of which individually provokes a mood, a memory a feeling. Each melody writes it's own words-it's unavoidable." Howard will be touring soon and would love to receive e-mailed requests for his mailing list or to answer any questions regarding his CD, playing style, acoustic amplification (his specialty) and any other comments you might have.
